When we moved here in 2006, I was surprised at the number of clubs. Club life wasn’t a big thing where we were in California. I was particularly taken with the beach club concept. In the LA area there are a few exclusive beach clubs with strict membership rules and of course some fancy clubs scattered about the metro area, but driving down Ponte Vedra Boulevard I felt like there were just as many, if not more beach clubs, in a 3-mile run. And then there were clubs in neighborhoods, a bit of a foreign concept to me at the time.
