Looking to freshen up your home to appeal to more buyers? Paint will be your best friend!

There is no one "right" interior paint color that will guarantee a quick sale of your house, as different buyers have different preferences and tastes. However, there are some general guidelines you can follow to increase your chances of making a good impression with potential buyers.

Neutral Colors

Neutrals like white, beige, and gray tend to appeal to a wide range of buyers, as they create a clean, fresh, and timeless look. These colors also make it easier for buyers to envision themselves living in the space.  Sherwin Williams’ top selling whites are: Greek Villa, Dover White, and Westhighland White.  For Benjamin Moore, the top sellers are Chantilly Lace, White Dove, and Dove Wing (and a personal favorite that’s a warm white - Swiss Coffee!)

Lighter Shades

Lighter shades of any color can help make a room feel more spacious and airy. Avoid dark or bold colors, which can make rooms and hallways feel smaller and more cramped.  Want to add some color back in? Do so with accessories like rugs, throw pillows, and artwork that are easily changeable.

Cohesive Palette

Stick to a cohesive color palette throughout your house to create a sense of flow and continuity. This doesn't mean that every room needs to be the same color, but that the colors should complement each other and create a harmonious overall look.  Every paint manufacturer offers palettes from which you can work to get a sophisticated look without having to sort through and match up 1,000 different paint chips.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a welcoming and clean atmosphere that will appeal to a wide range of buyers. It's always a good idea to consult with a professional interior designer or your agent with who can provide more specific advice tailored to your property and target market.
