1st Annual Souper Bowl

On Thursday, February 4, from 5-8 pm,  Blessings in a Backpack is hosting an unforgettable evening, with over 15 local chefs who will team up to help tackle hunger by preparing and serving a line-up of delectable soups. Attendees will sample a large selection of gourmet soups. In addition, they will select a soup bowl designed by a student from Nease High School or Valley Ridge Academy to take home as a memento of the event.

Tackling Hunger

Nearly 9,000 St. Johns County children depend on free and reduced meal programs at school as their main source of nutrition. When schools are closed, many of these children are not certain they will have food to eat. The First Coast Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack, a 501(c)(3) organization, partners with local concerns to provide food for hungry children over the weekends.

End the Hunger Zone

The cost to fill a child’s weekly backpack for an entire year is $100. Currently, Blessings in a Backpack feeds over 500 St. Johns County students.

The fundraising goal for the event is a minimum of $10,000 which would  add 100 new students to the program.
