Ponte Vedra High School senior, Katherine Bi-Ji, has been named the recipient of the Ponte Vedra Focus Blog Writing Scholarship, sponsored by The Volen Group, Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Partners. She will receive a $1000 check towards college expenses.
This award is annually presented to an area high school student who presents “the most compelling community-oriented blog” post. Katherine’s blog titled, “Eat More “Hole” Foods: A Collection of Northeast Florida’s Best Mini Donut Shops” was selected from numerous fantastic entries received.
Katherine, an avid lover of iced coffee, say she scoured the area for sweet shops and bakeries to complement her love for donuts. “I quickly fell in love with mini donuts and wholeheartedly believe that these treasures are ones that should be shared with the entire community.” Katherine’s personal local favorite at the beach? Mini Bar Donuts. “Mini Bar Donuts was the first mini donut location I had ever discovered, so there is a special place in my heart reserved for it.” Bi-Ji says after she watches the sunrise with friends or specials occasions, they always stop to treat themselves. “I have formed countless memories with Mini Bar Donuts, so their flavors are nostalgic. Her favorite, however, is the Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn, with it’s perfect balance of sweet and salty, soft and crunchy she considers it a must have.
Although she has not made a college selection yet, Katherine’s future looks incredibly bright with acceptances to University of Florida, University of Chicago, Vanderbilt, Washington University, Notre Dame and University of Southern California.
