Even if school might not look or feel like it has in the past, it’s still going to start in some capacity which means summer is nearly over.
I have so enjoyed having my two lovelies at home, the thought of them going back had me scrambling for a quick and easy last gasp summer trip.
Here are some of the options I found that are all within driving distance of PVB.
CRYSTAL RIVER
Thanks to an email newsletter from Jacksonville Magazine, I was introduced to a new section of the Gulf Coast ideal for fishing, kayaking, and manatee swimming. Ultimately we decided not to go since the Mermaid Show is closed and my family is not a fan of scallops. One day I would love to rent this Modern Gulf Coast Retreat just to enjoy a good book and the sunsets.
ST SIMONS
Only 1 1/2 hours away, this sweet coastal town is filled with charm. Last time I was there I had the best muffin and coffee at Wake Up Coffee and was looking forward to trying the popular Southern Soul Barbeque. We waited too late to rent The Fig House an adorable home with a pool.

LAKE RABUN
For those willing to go on a longer drive, Lake Rabun in Northeast Georgia is a great spot for paddleboarding, kayaking, and boating. Nearby Tallulah Falls has some nice hikes and downtown Clayton is terrific for an afternoon stroll and to grab a bite. Fortify Clayton has two restaurants, one offering delish pizza. R Lake caught my eye as a nice jump-off point.

Ultimately, the dates didn’t work at any of these places for our quick getaway, and we are staying home and playing backgammon and beer pong. If you end up booking them or have others you have enjoyed, let us know in the comments below. I’ll continue to dream.
