If you haven’t made the short drive north of Ponte Vedra Beach to try out Dos Vatos Tacos yet, you’re missing out. GO! NOW! Located at 1451 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach, two cousins, Derek and Marco, have made it their mission to serve the best tacos … and they have my vote!
My taco of choice for my visit was the beef birria. What’s a birria you ask? “Birria” means exquisite savory dish, full of culture and tradition” … and ya’ll, that’s exactly what the Dos Vatos birria taco is. The birria is a super popular taco served with mexican stew but not served at many restaurants in the area. Dos Vatos goes one step beyond your average birria and places the beef in the center of a tortilla lined with melted cheese.
I can only assume the beef is slow cooked as it was so tender and pretty much melts in your mouth. The stew (which may not actually be a stew but a dipping bowl of deliciousness nonetheless) on the side tops off the entire birria experience.
The team at Dos Vatos goes above and beyond to ensure customers are happy with their order, feel welcomed and will be coming back in the future. Outdoor seating will make this the perfect place to choose once the weather warms up, bring your four-legged friend and enjoy some of the best food out AND SERVICE out there! Beer and wine available will also keep me coming back! For me, it’s going to be difficult to not choose the birria again and try something new, but I’m already searching the amazing, mouth watering menu for my next selection.
