In Honor of Our Moms

Mother’s Day is a great time of reflection for the millions of mothers all around the world… and right here. Facebook is filled with lots of comments on the awesomeness of motherhood and all that it brings. All the cliches ring true. It’s a special day to think about how being a mother has changed your life and a reminder to appreciate your own mom.

It’s also a great day to think about all those mom’s out there who might be struggling. In honor of that, I wanted to point out two upcoming runs where you can show your support and love for those going through some tough situations.

Super Kate 5k

First, there’s the Super Kate 5K May 16th in Jacksonville Beach.
honor of a beautiful young girl named Kate AmatoThis run is in honor of a beautiful young girl named Kate Amato, who has been suffering from cancer for a year.

Her mother (and father) are amazing – strong beyond words – as they support Kate, her severely autistic brother, and a healthy sister. To register for this event, click here. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact nmannel2011@gmail.com.

United for Heroes 7k

The second upcoming race, which is another wonderful opportunity to show some support to a local family, is to join Team New in Honor of Kent New and in Memory of Natalie New in the United for Heroes 7k on May 25.

United for Heroes

This race supports our only area Trauma One unit. Sign up for Team New here.

Happy Mother’s Day. May yours be full of love and hope.
