In need of a little spring refresh, a whole house redo or a present for a friend? These local shops, and the interior designers associated with them, are perfect for all three.
J. Turner in Sawgrass Village
J. Turner’s collection of organic materials is a natural fit for any coastal design. Driftwood coffee tables, framed sea fans, and fragrant candles in reusable wooden vessels all have unique textures. Either on their own or layered the pieces create a welcoming environment both in the store and at home. The extremely personable staff are also available to help choose a beautiful home accessory or design entire spaces. Visit J. Turner at 280 Village Main St #990, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
Mrs. Howard/Max & Co in Jacksonville Beach
Phoebe Howard’s southern design store full of home furnishings is the OG at the beaches for a reason. The classic and timeless shop is an inviting mix of heirloom quality pieces and comfortable soft spots. This season there are a variety of wicker touches on display, from a whimsical dog sculpture to headboards to lamps and side tables perfect for covered porches or interiors. The soaps, trays and other tableware make for an ideal hostess gift. Visit Mrs. Howard's at 2400 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250
Oca Studio in Ponte Vedra Beach:
Oca Studio’s store has a modern and contemporary collection of home items. A few of the eccentric items seen last visit include a sheep sculpture, modern large scale artwork, and bone inlay boxes. The store also brims with global vibes similar to what your most stylish friend would bring back from an overseas adventure: beaded collar necklaces, hand carved wooden bowls, goddess sculptures…all adding a bit of glamour to any interior space. An unusual salt cellar, mini faux orchids, or ceramic vases in surprising shapes are all small but meaningful gifts available. Visit Oca Studio at 330 A1A N Suite 304, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
Orangerie Home in Jacksonville Beach
Orangerie Home is open for business during limited hours or through an appointment, with a selection of carefully curated antiques, art and objects sourced through travels and visits to market. Owner Kelly Cook has an eye for authentic original items, and when the old & new come together, it’s pure magic. While visiting, keep an eye out for the fabrics and original art pieces. A velvet pillow the color of cafe au lait and a wee enamel box are two of the treasures I found last time I visited. Visit Orangerie at 2411 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
