Pets and Humans Inside After 8p

The Anastasia Mosquito Control District is planning a big aerial mosquito spray tonight, October 19 from 8-11p in St Johns County. This includes Nocatee, St Johns and all St Johns recreational facilities.

Residents and pets are encouraged to stay indoors from 8p to 11p. The chemical being used is called Naled. Here’s a link to the EPA’s evaluation of the chemical.

Action News Jax has a story about it from today. And here’s what St Johns County Fire and Rescue posted on their Facebook page. You should like this page btw.

The Anastasia Mosquito Control District will conduct an aerial spray throughout St. Johns County to combat the outbreak of mosquitoes due to Hurricane Matthew and local flooding from 8 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19. The spray area will include Flagler Estates, Armstrong, Nocatee, St. Johns, St. Augustine, and West Augustine. Please remain indoors along with all pets during this time. All St. Johns County recreational fields will be closed to the public for use during the aerial spray.

The decision to conduct aerial spraying for mosquitos lies solely with the Anastasia Mosquito Control District, which is an independent special district created by the Florida Legislature and is not under the jurisdiction of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners. Questions and concerns regarding the aerial spray can be directed to the Anastasia Mosquito Control District at 904.471.3107.

Maybe I live in a hole, but I kind of wish there was a bigger heads up on this. Take your dog walk early people, and get those cats and kids inside!
