Ponte Vedra is much more eclectic than you think. Case in point, this week’s Ponte Vedran of the Week comedian Danny Johnson. Often called a cross between Jackie Gleason and Jerry Seinfeld, Danny’s show is relatable, entertaining, and always evolving (watch his youtube channel here).
Danny has starred in loads of TV commercials, Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots, Florida’s Funniest Comedian semi-finalist, and has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Billy Gardell, Richard Lewis, and a variety of others. What?! He’s also an author and career man. And….he lives here! Please meet Danny.

Ponte Vedran you most admire: I’d have to say Tim Tebow. His character, humility, unwavering faith, community efforts, and athletic accomplishments are amazing.

Dream Vacation other than Ponte Vedra? I’d love to travel to Europe.
If I could invite anyone over to dinner – 2 Ponte Vedrans and one famous person – who would you invite? I’d like to have dinner with Tim Tebow and Mark Brunell. Both are men of strong faith, accomplishment, and have given back to the community in many ways. Famous person is easy, Jerry Seinfeld. I’d love the opportunity to talk comedy with the greatest.
Last time you went to the beach: June 2015. I know where the best beach in FL is, and I’m not sharing!
Last time you saw live music: 2014, Garth Brooks
Last time you laughed out loud uncontrollably, and why? I am blessed to have a few close friends who crack me up every time we speak. Some of those friends are comedians, some are “civilians,” lol. I do find myself laughing out loud every time I watch fellow comedian Brian Regan. He is simply incredible.
Favorite Ponte Vedra organization: Ponte Vedra Soccer Club. A great organization building character, athleticism, and sportsmanship in children.
Favorite Ponte Vedra restaurant (or area): My favorite restaurant is my back porch, where I love to grill for the family!
Favorite place for a cocktail: Any place that serves Coke Zero.
Favorite way to get exercise here: P90X3, or a nice jog around Nocatee.
Favorite movie: Comedian, a Jerry Seinfeld documentary showing Jerry throwing out all of his stand-up comedy material and building a new set from scratch. It’s a must see for all comedians and comedy fans. Creating and delivering new material is an anxiety filled, fun experience.
Favorite TV show: Seinfeld. Pure, brilliant comedy. I also like Shark Tank, The Profit, and anything sports related.
Favorite book: The Bible. It has transformed my life in a way I thought was impossible.
Favorite band or music: Sometimes, nothing beats some good old Frank Sinatra!
Something most people don’t know about you: I’m an introvert. Believe it or not, most comedians are, until we grab the microphone!
Anything else: I have led a dual track career for over a decade, achieving success in both corporate America and as a comedian. Blending my unique skill sets led me to publish my first book, You Stink and They Know It!
