For those who don’t know, an enclave neighborhood with 21 homes is being planned off of Corona. The access will be just East of Ponte Vedra Animal Hospital, and the neighborhood will butt up against Ponte Vedra by the Sea – separated by a masonry wall.
On the one hand, YAY, a neighborhood for people who want to walk to the beach. Could be very special. On the other hand, boo for those who live in PV by the Sea and off Corona. And, well, a bigger boo for the wildlife that live there. Can you imagine where all the snakes, possums, raccoons, gators, and bugs will go?
And what about the traffic? Have you tried to make a left from Corona onto A1A lately?
Looks like the plans are in permitting according to the Municipal Service District’s latest e-blast.
Opinions? Applause? Boos? What say you?
Here’s a link to a pdf courtesy of Ponte Vedra Municipal Service District, and here’s a quick screenshot the proposed plan:
This Google map with my artistic talents applied is actually a little easier to visualize where it’s going:

I read this and thought how absurd that the county is allowing this. Our indigenous creatures have been evicted indeed! How about some green space. None of that! How about overcrowded schools. We have that already! Don’t even get me started with regard to the traffic on A1A! It now takes me on average 15 minutes to go 3.5 miles on A1A. Traffic is sometimes backed up from Sawgrass CC to Solana. Impact studies would show this. If the developer is paying infrastructure fees, we the current taxpaying residents have no idea where they are being applied. Enough already! I am pro-development, but Ponte Vedra Beach and Ponte Vedra are out of control. Should we ever experience a hurricane where we are forced to evacuate, we are surely doomed. What I loved most about PVB is quickly eroding because of the greedy landowners throwing up cheap housing in every nook and cranny!

As a homeowner of PV By the Sea, I am relieved that the new neighborhood’s access won’t be via our neighborhood. However, the word excessive comes to mind! I understand this land was originally plotted for 3 homes and now the developer wants to build 21 homes. I’m picturing huge homes on tiny lots. This seems like a real misstep by the county/city to allow this overuse of land.

Good thinking! How did this happen? All those little creatures are going to climb that wall into PV By The Sea. Poor things. Not even to mention the traffic collisions on A1A as people swerve to avoid hitting them. No where else to go! PV needs green space!!!
