What’s Up Wednesday

Thank you, Morgan and Company for our super new shopping bags! Want one? Let us know in the comments.

We are back with another weekly round-up of what we are loving this Wednesday.

Weekend Plans:

November 23 – McKenzie’s Run

One of the most enjoyable 5K’s in Jacksonville is this weekend at the Bank. Run for a good cause. Run because the smell of the Maxwell factory is like no other (in a good way). Run because it might be the only chance to be on a pro football field, run because you are about to feast…whatever the reason, register and run.

November 24 – Canine Field Day

Sunday it’s the dogs’ chance to run. For $10, your pup can explore acres and acres at the beautiful Congaree and Penn Farm. Should you get parched on the 10-minute walk to the off-leash area there will be a pop-up bar available.

November 24 – John Oates at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall

Calling all Maneaters! Oh, oh here he comes. John Oates is playing this weekend.  Watch out now, the new album is a soulful mix with a little bit country a little bit blues and a little bit bluegrass.

Thanksgiving Inspiration:

Meal planning for the epic food holiday can require a little research.  Chrissy Teigan has a new website full of comforting and delicious ideas and Half Baked Harvest, a popular cooking blog, has a full menu guide on her site. Prefer to dine out?  Jacksonville Magazine has a good list of restaurants open on Thanksgiving.

Pop Culture:

This is not new, but new to me.  If you are interested in football or stories told well, I recommend giving The Gladiator a listen.  It’s the Aaron Hernandez story reported by the Boston Globe Spotlight Team. I am only on episode three but am completely hooked.

Ray Donovan’s seventh season began again Sunday on Showtime. Also on Showtime the new show  Back to Life, from some of the creators of Fleabag, is getting great reviews.

Finally,  Ford and Ferrari crushed it a the box office last weekend.  For those who want more information on the “real” story here are two articles,  one from Popular Mechanics and the other from Slate.
