What’s Up Wednesday

By Willow Logue

Things to Do:

Today is Veterans Day. Hang a flag, thank a member of the service, donate to military-specific charity (two locally run organizations are Wounded Warrior Project and K9s for Warriors), and/or participate in the Salute to Veterans Run this Saturday.  If you are a veteran, USA Today published a list of places to get a free haircut, food, and more.

Thursday, November 12,  Arts & Drafts with Pinspiration: Head to Nocatee’s Really Good Beer Stop and get creative by making your very own etched beer mug. There will be multiple designs and beers to choose from.

Thursday, November 12: Blue Jay Listening Room is open and has seating at 50% capacity. Get tickets for Seth Walker on Thursday or for a full schedule of their upcoming line-up, check out their website for more details.

Friday, November 13:  Edible LIVE at the Drive-In:  Enjoy a  SubCultured Cuban sandwich and the treat that is the movie Chef. There are only 36 parking spots, get your tickets here.

Link Love:

Matthew McConaughey has released a new book, Greenlights, and has been making the rounds promoting it. The best interview I have heard was with Dax Shepard on Armchair Expert

2020 has been a lot thus far. Some exercises I have found useful in helping me cope are the free mediation app Insight Timer, this 10-minute breathing exercise on You-Tube, and walking outside.  Our beaches are pretty spectacular.

In sports, Tiger Woods defends his title at The Masters this weekend and in the meantime, Jon Rahm is keeping things exciting with this birthday shot.

Thanksgiving is just a mere few weeks away.  Half Baked Harvest has published her 202o menu and some good tips. Camilla Styles has a round-up of healthy soup recipes for non-turkey days.  The “best “instant pot recipes are available on  Food 52 or The Modern Proper for quick and delicious home cooking ideas.
