Welcome to TPC Week in Ponte Vedra Beach
Every March our cozy little resort town of Ponte Vedra Beach shines in the spotlight as THE PLAYERS Championship rolls into town. The excitement of this season brings incredible joy to all residents in the area as the anticipation builds while watching directional signs go up and the media frenzy rolling into town. Local restaurants will soon be packed with fans coming from near and far to our quaint seaside community for front-row viewing of this four-day annual event.
A Little TPC History
TPC comes with an incredible history dating back to 1982 when the first tournament was held in Ponte Vedra Beach and won by Jerry Pate. Jerry Pate celebrated by throwing Pete Dye and Deane Beaman in the water before joining them to celebrate his win! Throughout the years we have seen legends like Fred Couples, Davis Love III, Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, David Duval, Adam Scott, and Justin Thomas win the coveted Tiffany & Co. designed trophy.
The 7,245-yard Stadium Course, is known for its signature hole, "The Island Green" (technically a peninsula), on #17. This par 3 hole, surrounded by water, is known in the golfing community as one of the most difficult holes. It is also home to thousands of fans who spend their day seated watching the action happen from the grassy hill and grandstands. Fans have been up close to witness a seagull swoop down and fly off with Brad Fabel's ball that successfully landed on the green in 1998 as well as watch over 50 balls land in the water during the gusty 2007 opener. While those are all classic moments to witness, there's nothing as exciting as an ace (hole-in-one) on this hole which has happened only 9 times in championship history.
Volunteering at THE PLAYERS Championship
While all of this excitement wouldn't be possible without the players themselves, there's an abundance of preparation that goes on behind the scenes of the event as well. Volunteers are an integral part of THE PLAYERS Championship with over 40 committees seeking volunteers annually. Volunteers are needed for everything from scoring, guest services, operations, concessions, parking in the general parking lot ... you name it ... there is something for everyone! The volunteers become the backbone of the entire fan and player experience. While about 85% to 90% of the volunteers come from the Northeast Florida area some volunteers come from abroad including Scotland, Ireland and Malaysia.

What You Can Bring to THE PLAYERS
- Opaque bag (6x6x6 or smaller) or clear bag (12x6x12 or smaller)
- Sunscreen
- Driver's License / Identification
- Debit / Credit Card (2022 is a cashless experience)
- Point and shoot, film or DSLR cameras Tuesday and Wednesday, no cases
- Umbrellas, no sleeves (or rain jacket/poncho)
- Collapsible chairs with no cases
- Binoculars with no case
- Portable radios with headsets
- Mobile phones or PDAs
- Medically necessary materials
- Infant carrier, diaper bags, and other baby supplies (infant must be with the carrier)
- Motorized transportation devices for handicapped guests
- Seat cushions without pockets or cases
- Reusable plastic or metal cups/bottles that cannot hold more than 32 ounces (must be empty at entry)
What You Can't Bring to THE PLAYERS
- Noise-producing devices
- Fireworks or laser pointers
- Coolers or outside beverages
- Folding chair bags
- Backpacks, camera cases, mesh bags, seat cushions, large tote bags, binocular cases
- Weapons of any kind
- Signs, posters or banners
- Pets (except service animals)
- Computers or laptops
- Bicycles, skateboards, mopeds, tricycles
- Drones or other devices that can be operated in airspace
- Selfie sticks

THE PLAYERS Concert
Kelsea Ballerini, two-time Grammy Award-nominated songwriter and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year nominee will be the first female artist to perform at the Military Appreciation Day concert at THE PLAYERS Championship on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Tickets are available at www.THEPLAYERS.com/tickets. The concert will take place on the Island Green at the 17th hole.
